Volume 1. Implant removal technique in three patients
This volume demonstrates how to remove osseointegrated implants in three patients using the reverse torque technique. In this low-invasive technique (usually performed with flapless surgery), osseointegration at the bone-implant interface is disrupted by a special instrument rotated counterclockwise. Because esthetic failure is often characterized by the absence of keratinized mucosa, the patient received a full-thickness mucosal graft with simultaneous removal of the implant.

Volume 2. Failure of a single dental implant
This volume presents a small-diameter single-dentate implant that had to be removed after 18 years due to chronic infection and mild mucosal recession. Removal of the implant results in fracture of the implant while the remainder of the implant is left in place to preserve the mucosa intact during the planned implant procedure. Open flap implantation involves removal of the implant using the reverse torque technique followed by implant placement using GBR with simultaneous contour enhancement.

Volume 3. Cosmetic failure of two adjacent implants including the lateral incisor area
The patient had two adjacent implants placed for 14 years and developed severe mucosal atrophy. Treatment consisted of removal of two osseointegrated implants, one of which, with a small diameter, fractured in the apical region. At the same time, full-thickness mucosal grafts were used to repair the keratinized mucosa. Subsequent implant placement involved removal of the small remnants of the implant and placement of the implant in the canine position while GBR was performed. Implants consist of a crown with small medial outrigger units.

Volume 4: Esthetic implant failure in two missing central incisors
The patients in this volume were referred for placement of osseointegrated implants in the missing two central incisors of the left central incisor. Implants were severely curved and aesthetic restorations were not possible. Therefore, the implant must be removed and the site allowed to heal. The two implants are then placed in the correct 3D position and angle through open flap surgery using a surgical scaffold. Smaller facial bony defects were augmented with GBR using autologous bone fragments, deproteinized bovine bone material particles, and absorbable collagen membranes. After healing, the treatment is completed with two single crowns.

Volume 5. A Case of Esthetic Disaster with Three Implants and Severe Mucosal Recession
This volume presents a patient wearing a fixed denture (FDP) with three osseointegrated implants. All three implant sites had severe mucosal recession due to vertical bony defects. First, the implant is removed and mucosal grafting is performed to restore the keratinized mucosa. Subsequently, two implants were placed using GBR with simultaneous horizontal bone augmentation. After healing, a temporary pink plastic FDP is fabricated to compensate for vertical soft tissue defects.
